Redmond City Council Approves Parking Expansion Project at Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM)

The Redmond City Council has approved a proposal to add 482 new parking spaces at the Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) This is the first parking expansion at the Redmond Airport in 15 years. The additional parking is needed because the airport is growing and has doubled the number of passengers served just in the last six years. The 2.5-million-dollar project could start in four to six weeks, weather permitting, with the job finished by the fall. This project is included in the FY 2019/20 budget and will be entirely funded through bond proceeds received in March 2019.

According to Redmond Airport Director, Zachary Bass, due to the substantial growth of the airport the current public parking lot and employee parking lot both occasionally reached full capacity. The new parking project will expand the existing parking lot, adding an additional 482 parking stalls. Bass stated that RDM seeks to pursue future physical improvements to airport facilities, increase amenities and enhance the customer experience and is currently working on adding a third TSA lane and new Airport Terminal Expansion project as well.
